Connect Marquette is continuing our monthly Lunch With Leaders series, and our August guest is our usual LWL moderator, Jeni Kilpela!
Jeni Kilpela recently started as the Community Outreach Coordinator at the Noquemanon Trail Network. She manages individual and business memberships for the NTN, as well as a little of this and a little of that – like at any non-profit. Her goals in her new job include: fostering a welcoming atmosphere for trail users and converting them to trail supporters, to engage the membership and keep them connected to the NTN work and provide opportunities to join in a volunteer capacity.
“The NTN’s vast trail system is an amazing resource, located next to the most beautiful lake in the world. I’m excited to help steward that resource and promote the enjoyment of it.”
Kilpela started her career in Broadcast Communications as a reporter at WLUC TV-6, working in Houghton, then Marquette. Prior to the NTN, she worked at Peter White Public Library in Youth Services, creating and managing youth literacy programs and then as Communications Coordinator. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication from Spring Arbor University.
In her free time she helps with youth ski programming and youth running through the Superiorland Ski Club and directs the Lake Superior Shore Run (a fundraiser for youth xc-ski programs). She also helps with youth programming at her church and volunteers with the library at Father Marquette Catholic Academy.
