Tom Baldini Award Ceremony
Recognizing Civic and Community Involvment
The Tom Baldini Award was created by Connect Marquette to reward members of our community who have shown a fresh interest in community and civic engagement.
People may submit a nomination for themselves or on someone else's behalf. One nominee will be selected by Connect Marquette's Nominating Committee.
2026 Nominations are CLOSED!
The winner will be informed of their award shortly after the cut of date and receive their award at the annual Connect Conference.
About Tom Baldini
Tom Baldini, who passed away in December of 2017, was a well-known and active supporter of Connect Marquette. In the spirit of his unwavering commitment to Marquette County, the organization seeks to foster leadership and civic engagement among its membership by awarding this scholarship annually.
Tom lived a service and community focused life with extensive achievements such as:
- Working on staff for Gov. James Blanchard
- Teaching at Marquette Senior High School
- Nominated by President Bill Clinton to be Chair of the International Joint Commission for Canada and the United States
- U.S. representative of the U.S. and Canadian Boundary Commission
- Teaching as a part-time instructor at Northern Michigan University
- Appointment to the Michigan Teach University Board of Control by Gov. Jennifer Granholm
- District Director of the 1st Congressional District of Michigan
- Elected to the Marquette City Charter Commission and the Marquette City Commission
- Member of numerous local groups including the Marquette County Economic Club, The Marquette Count Paisano Club, The Negaunee Lions Club, and both the Michigan and Marquette County Democratic Parties
- Held the position of mayor of Marquette at the time of his passing
Tom Baldini was the type of person that knew everyone in town and was well respected in the community. His life of dedication to our community was unparalleled.

Winners Receive
Winner can select a Marquette County nonprofit of their choosing and Connect Marquette will donate $200 in their name.
Winner will receive a free ticket to attend the Connect Conference where they will be presented with their award.
Winner will receive a Connect Marquette branded merchandise gift.
Winner will be including on the Connect Website and featured as part of the local press release that will be submitted following the award ceremony.
