We’re excited to have new Board Members joining us this year including Registered Nurse, Alysa Kilpela aka Aly. Alysa is the new Connect Marquette Secretary and Volunteer Co-Chair! We asked Alysa to share a bit about herself and why she was interested in joining the board.
Get to know New Board Member Aly:
Alysa moved back to the UP a couple years ago after living in Ann Arbor for 7 years. Though she is originally from the Houghton area, she loves Marquette. Alysa spent her college years here and this quickly became home for her. Being a part of her community is something that Aly has always enjoyed. As a hospice nurse and as a volunteer for the Alzheimer’s Association here in Marquette, she works closely within the community. Alysa is excited to continue and to expand her work within Marquette!
When asked why Alysa Joined Connect Marquette, she said:
I joined the Connect Marquette Board of Directors because I moved back to the UP a little over a year ago after living in Ann Arbor for 7 years and was looking for ways to get more involved in the community. Marquette was always the place that I looked forward to coming back to while downstate. Being a part of my community is something that I have always enjoyed so I wanted to continue that here.
When asked what Aly thought the community was missing, she said:
Connection between the various age groups within Marquette.
Connect Marquette is a mission driven organization dedicated to bringing the community together through both professional and social development, so we’re excited to see how Aly works with us to bring age groups of all ranges together to enjoy and appreciate everything Marquette has to offer!
