Originally from Marquette, David Peters recently moved back to the area and was seeking ways to get out and re-engage in the community more. As a manager in Business Development & Marketing, David works remotely. During the holiday season he was looking for some festive cheer and stumbled upon the Connect Marquette holiday party and has quickly branched out within the organization.
When asked what David feels his membership does for him, he replied:
The organization connects me to the community and provides a great way to meet new people. I live 15 miles out of town and work from home (the birds and squirrels are my coworkers), so it also gives me a good reason to come into town and be among other humans.
In additional to enjoying a good conversation and the ability to learn from an expert on any topic, David also enjoys getting out in nature. He said:
There’s nothing like heading out for a hike in the mountains, forest, or the beach after a storm. When not out in nature, you might find me shooting pool with my 89-year-old pops. He was a serious pool shark when he was younger, and he still kicks my butt most of the time.
Since it’s been quite some time since David has been back, he hasn’t gotten to experience a lot of the festivals and events in Marquette County. If you have a recommendation for him, make sure to reach out! When asked, David did say:
I’ve been really impressed by all the area events that go on all year around. I grew up going to NMU football and basketball games and have picked up where I left off, catching many home games (including hockey and volleyball) with and old buddy who is an NMU super fan. Go Wildcats!
We also asked David what he thinks the best spot it town is for dinner. What’s worth the trip into town for David is a juicy steak and buttery garlic bread at Casa Calabria!
