Get to know Connect Marquette Board Member Joe Thiel
Joe Thiel joined the Connect Marquette board in 2022 as Membership Committee Co-Chair. During the day, Joe is Chief Executive Officer at Innovate Marquette SmartZone. Joe is also on several other boards in the Marquette area including InvestUP.
When asked, “Why did you join the Connect Marquette Board of Directors?” Joe said, “I see connect Marquette as an amazing welcoming resource for young entrepreneurs in the area or coming to the area. An amazing landing pad to network and grow talent and businesses.”
In the future, Joe looks forward to seeing Connect Marquette provide great networking events and information for talent in the area or relocating to the area. Joe feels the region is lacking access to capital at all stages of innovation and hopes to make an impact in this area as a resident of Marquette County.
To learn more about Joe, we asked, “What are some of your favorite hobbies/activities you enjoy outside of work?” He responded, “Hanging out with kids, Snowboarding, Hiking, Camping, Cooking, Writing Music. Playing the guitar, Chopping wood, playing with pets, kayaking, paddle boarding, socializing, mentoring.”
If Joe were to create a podcast, the title of his show would be, “The transition of the upper peninsula from historic forestry and extraction industry to a vibrant innovation and technology hub.”
