Completing her 4th year on the board, Shannon Whitehouse is Connect Marquette President. She’s filled several other roles during her time with the organization and pushed the group to new heights.
When asked about her favorite Connect Marquette/40 Below memory, Shannon said:
What is your favorite Connect/40 B memory: That is such a hard question because I have a lot of really good memories but I think my favorite is the year we partied at the Vera Bar with Tom Baldini. It was for our Annual Holiday Charity party. We were able to have a blast on the dance floor with everyone (even people you didn’t expect) and raise money to buy presents for our Adopt-a-Family.
Shannon loves hiking with her dog, reading or listening to audiobooks and podcasts, dancing, and music. She also really enjoys a nice glass of wine or beer and talking to people.
Shannon’s best piece of advice when it comes to getting the most out of your membership is:
Join a committee. Don’t be afraid to get involved. Even if you aren’t sure that you have enough experience, you won’t get experience without putting yourself out there. I have made some of my best friends, had some of my best experiences and learned the most from being on a committee. Our committees are very flexible and there is no required number of meetings you have to attend if you do decide to join so it takes a lot of the pressure off. It is just a great opportunity to work more closely with people who have similar interests and have your voice heard.
