Connect Marquette is excited to continue our monthly (1 hour) Lunch With Leaders series, bringing together both members and non-members interested in the unique perspective of each month's guest.

We offer an accessible setting to get to know, learn, and discuss relevant topics that fit our mission; being an instrumental part of the long-term success of individuals in Marquette County through collaboration, inclusiveness, innovation, and the U.P. work ethic. This is a great opportunity to get to know our guest in a small-group format!

Our August 26 conversation is with Marty Fittante, who is the Chief Executive Officer for InvestUP. He is the former chief of staff for Michigan State Senator Tom Casperson, and his legislative works spans numerous industries, including forestry, mining, and health care. He was previously external affairs director for the House Policy Office, a position that he held after serving as legislative director during Senator Casperson’s terms in the Michigan House of Representatives. As a policy advisor, he managed three statewide task forces that addressed job creation, education, and agriculture. Marty and his wife Lisa also own an accounting firm in Iron Mountain that serves small and medium sized businesses.

This Lunch With Leaders meeting will be hosted through Zoom. So take this opportunity to get to know a bit more about the local economic (and legislative) landscape and one of the people leading the way. Grab your computer, take a break, grab a bite and spend your lunch with us!

Registration will be available until shortly before the start of the program. Registrants will receive a follow-up email with information on how to join the discussion.

*The $5 registration helps pay for the lunch series - Thank you!

Each month, Connect Marquette will feature a guest speaker in an informal lunch setting (up to 10 guests). Organized topics at different venues in downtown Marquette (when such meetings are again possible) will be announced ahead of time. The topic will be selected by the featured speaker, and a few topics can be suggested by the organization ahead of time for preparation.

This series provides an an accessible setting to get to know, learn, and discuss relevant topics that fit the Connect Marquette mission; being an instrumental part of the long-term success of individuals in Marquette County through collaboration, inclusiveness, innovation, and the U.P. work ethic. Our September 9 conversation is with Bradley Austin, who is the director at the Marquette County Solid Waste Management Authority, overseeing solid waste collection -- and recycling -- for much of the central Upper Peninsula. He and the MCSWMA are planning some big and exciting changes for Marquette County recycling, so this should be an enlightening lunch, to say the least!

This Lunch With Leaders meeting will be hosted through Zoom. So take this opportunity to get to know a bit more about our local recycling program, which has major impacts both economically and ecologically, and one of the people leading the way. Grab your computer, take a break, grab a bite and spend your lunch with us!

The Connect Marquette Book Club is moving on to Book #2!

We will be discussing Dale Carnegie's classic, How to Win Friends and Influence People.

If you have questions, feel free to email info@connectmarquette.org.

This first meeting of this members-only group will be held remotely, though the plan is for these meetings to eventually transition to face-to-face events.

We suggest you read the entirety of the book before this meeting. However, if you haven't yet finished, you are still free to participate in the discussion.

This initiative began with a survey of members, which made it clear that people were very interested in the idea of a CM book club. From the Survey results, we found that our members want to read books that focus on Personal Development and Leadership. This book is certain to touch on both those principals.

We urge you to shop local for your copy of this book & support our local economy!

A few days prior to the event, registrants will receive a link to the Zoom meeting.
