Connect Marquette is continuing our monthly Lunch With Leaders series, and our July guest is Todd Poquette! Join us virtually, July 21st at NOON to speak with and learn more about Todd and his many adventures.
Serving as the President of the 906 Adventure team, the Race Director of the 906 Polar Roll & the Marji Gesick, and self-described as the Director of Adventure; Todd Poquette has devoted himself to inspiring others to experience outdoor adventures through mountain biking and trails, with a focus on building self-esteem, active healthy lifestyles, and trail stewardship.
Todd's primary focus is on getting youth involved through the 906 Adventure Team, which he formed in 2014 hoping to fill a void: While there were race teams and a handful of group rides, there weren’t any groups welcoming youth or adults new to the bike scene. At the same time, he learned through youth programs and event direction that people weren’t drawn to mountain biking just to compete. For many the allure was deeper, more personal – about adventure.
Recently, Todd and 3 other bikers completed a 1,624-mile ride that followed the entire coastline of the Upper Peninsula, taking 16 days to complete, as part of Project Adventrus. We're thrilled to have Todd as our July Lunch with Leaders guest, where he'll share his experience with creating an adventurous life for not only himself but teaching others to do the same for themselves.
This event is intended to provide an accessible setting, where the Connect Marquette membership can get to know our guest a bit, while learning and sharing information, discussing topics relevant to our mission: being an instrumental part of the long-term success of individuals in Marquette County through collaboration, inclusiveness, innovation, and the U.P. work ethic. This is a great opportunity to get to know our featured guest in a small-group format.
This Lunch With Leaders meeting will be hosted virtually. So please take this opportunity to get to know a bit more about one of our local community leaders. Get your laptop, take a break and spend your lunch with us!
Registration will be available until shortly before the start of the program. Registrants will receive a follow-up email with information on how to join the discussion.
Each month, Connect Marquette will feature a guest speaker in an informal lunch setting. Organized topics at different venues in downtown Marquette (when such meetings are again possible) will be announced ahead of time. The topic will be selected by the featured speaker, and a few topics can be suggested by the organization ahead of time for preparation.
