Get to know Board Member Antonio Adan!

    Antonio Adan

When asked about his favorite Connect Marquette Memory, Antonio said:

"What is your favorite Connect Marquette memory? It was an honor to present the annual Connect Marquette Tom Baldini Scholarship in his name to two outstanding community members. I did not have the privilege of getting to know Mr. Baldini, but I am proud that we carry on his legacy every year. Learning and knowing that the trajectory of one of the organizations’ biggest supporters, Tom Baldini was influential to this organization because he believed in the passion and energy this organization instills to its members. That passion still lives on with many of our active members and we uphold our pillars of community, leadership, and personal growth."

Outside of work, some of Antonio's favorite activities are walking around downtown with his wife and three dogs. Antonio also has a new appreciation for the outdoors he never experienced living in a big city like Chicago. Antonio learned to fly fish two years ago with a stellar guide from Superior Outfitters who took him to the Yellow Dog River. Outside of work, he's a volunteer at heart and loves giving back to the community. Antonio is also a foodie, so you’ll catch him cooking or experiencing all the wonderful and traditional dishes the area has to offer.

Interested in Antonio's advice for getting the most out of being a member of Connect Marquette?

    Antonio says:

Get activated! Our strength is putting on events for you and our members. We have a dedicated core of passionate committees and individuals that give back their time to make this a true community and family. If you consider joining us, bring your great ideas and resolve. The future is bright in Marquette County, be a part of it!

Shannon Whitehouse of Connect MarquetteCompleting her 4th year on the board, Shannon Whitehouse is Connect Marquette President. She's filled several other roles during her time with the organization and pushed the group to new heights.

When asked about her favorite Connect Marquette/40 Below memory, Shannon said:

"What is your favorite Connect/40 B memory: That is such a hard question because I have a lot of really good memories but I think my favorite is the year we partied at the Vera Bar with Tom Baldini. It was for our Annual Holiday Charity party. We were able to have a blast on the dance floor with everyone (even people you didn’t expect) and raise money to buy presents for our Adopt-a-Family."

Shannon loves hiking with her dog, reading or listening to audiobooks and podcasts, dancing, and music. She also really enjoys a nice glass of wine or beer and talking to people.

Shannon's best piece of advice when it comes to getting the most out of your membership is:

"Join a committee. Don’t be afraid to get involved. Even if you aren’t sure that you have enough experience, you won’t get experience without putting yourself out there. I have made some of my best friends, had some of my best experiences and learned the most from being on a committee. Our committees are very flexible and there is no required number of meetings you have to attend if you do decide to join so it takes a lot of the pressure off. It is just a great opportunity to work more closely with people who have similar interests and have your voice heard."

    Meet Daniel Croney!

Position with Connect Marquette: Iron Range Roll Committee Chair & Board Member

    Employer: Yellow Dog Creative

    Position: Director of Media Strategy

Interested in Daniel's favorite Connect Marquette/40 Below memory?

    Here is what he said:

"One of my favorite memories was being a part of the workshop to discuss the 40B to CM name change. The room was full of so many ideas and new names were flying all over the place. It was a lot of fun to be a part of and having our membership, and community at large such a major part of that decision made it a very educational and fun experience. (put this part in if you want) I will admit I was on the side of keeping the original 40 Below name but once the decision was made that the name was being changed, I embraced the process and had fun contributing to the selection of the new one."

When it comes to Daniel's favorite hobbies or activities outside of work, Dan loves spending time with his wife, daughter, and pup Dunder. His hobbies include woodworking and house projects. Like many others in Marquette, he enjoys getting outside, going for hikes, swimming in Lake Superior, golfing, and skiing at Marquette Mountain.

Here is Daniel's best advice for getting the most out of your membership:

"Get involved and be an active participant in CM. Not only is it a really good way to meet people but it is a great way to learn from other people. Everyone in the group brings a set of skills and knowledge that you can learn from and hopefully help others with your skills and knowledge. There is so much professional diversity in the organization and the people that are most involved in events and functions seem to get the most value from their membership. If you have time to join a committee, do that. If you have a couple hours a month and can't commit to weekly/monthly meetings then do you best to attend the socials or other networking functions. Our group is an in-person type of organization and we depend heavily on the ability to socialize and network. That all will return with time and when it does, take advantage of it. Step out of your comfort zone, get involved and meet new people. Connect Marquette is a great way to do that."
